Tesla delivered a record 308,600 vehicles in the Q4 2021.

Annual sales for the automaker are up more than 85 percent from last year, capping off a “jaw-dropper performance” for the year, which also saw Tesla reach the exclusive $1 trillion valuation club.

“This is a trophy-case quarter for Tesla as the company blew away even bull-case expectations,” Daniel Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, said in an e-mailed statement to The Detroit News.

Quarterly sales are, according to the report, “one of the most closely watched indicators for Tesla” as they are “seen as a barometer of consumer demand for electric vehicles as a whole because the company has led the charge for battery-powered cars.”
