Most of the refundable $100 reservations came in the truck’s first month on the market, according to a report from TechCrunch—Ford confirmed it had around 120,000 by the end of June.

During a Q2 earnings call with investors, CEO Jim Farley said that nearly 75 percent of reservations were from customers new to Ford, and around 40 percent of reservations were from people who planned on trading in ICE trucks.

The Lightning will offer four different trim levels, with its base model starting at $39,974 and the XLT starting at $52,974. The new EV pickup will look to continue the run of dominance that Ford’s F-series has had on the truck market—the automaker reported it had sold nearly 790,000 trucks in 2020.
